Literacy

Teachers in each year level work as a team to cater for the needs of all students including those for whom English is their second language, students who struggle with reading, writing and spelling and students who need to be challenged.

Literacy Pro

Is a reading program that connects the home and school. Books in the Library are levelled, and students from years 3 – 6 select books according to their reading level. Once a book is read at home, students complete an online comprehension test to accrue points and to determine whether they can increase a level. Literacy Pro points are recognised and celebrated across the school.

MiniLit (Years 1 to 3) and MacqLit (Years 3 to 6)

Are reading intervention programs for students who struggle with reading or have missed some essential concepts. Students participate in small group, intensive direct instruction with a trained staff member. Students generally stay in MiniLit or MacqLit for 6 – 12 months then return to the mainstream class. Regular attendance is a must to be successful in this program.
